Carl St.Clair takes over at Komische Oper Berlin, mit video

They think of him as a Texan in Europe, but we know better. Carl St.Clair, music director of the Pacific Symphony since the Bush I administration, is a bona fide Orange Countian and he began his tenure at the Komische Oper Berlin on Thursday. He talked to George Loomis of the International Herald Tribune about his new job. Above, a video of the Berlin Komische Oper production of “La Boheme,” which St.Clair conducted. You’ll hear Carl speaking German, among other things.
